WELCOME TO
BRENTON-on-SEA

Brenton-on-Sea is a quaint seaside village on the Knysna western head, a mere 15 km away from the Knysna town centre. The village is perched high and overlooks the crescent curve of the seemingly endless beach that stretches from Brenton-on-Sea to Buffels Bay.

Named after Sir Jahleel Brenton, the esteemed British Royal Navy officer who declared Knysna a harbour in 1818, the area is home to the critically endangered Brenton blue butterfly. A reserve was created in an attempt to save the species.

Nature lovers flock to Brenton-on-Sea to take part in the activities that the area offers, to enjoy the views and to relax. Whale and dolphin watching, sunbathing on the secluded beaches below the cliffs, hiking and cycling are a few of the popular activities.

This website is hosted by the Brenton Ratepayers Association. Hereby we aim to provide residents, visitors and other interested parties with accurate and up-to-date information about Brenton-on-Sea.
